Calling all artists, cultural leaders, planners, economic and community development professionals, and local officials! Tickets are now available for our ArtsTank Creative Placemaking Competition! ArtsTank, a program of South Jersey Cultural Alliance (SJCA), is an effort to showcase model creative placemaking programs in South Jersey, while also encouraging the participation in the cultural actions of Sustainable Jersey.
ArtsTank (think Sharktank!), a new program of SJCA, is competition designed to encourage creative placemaking in an effort to develop sustainable, prosperous, equitable, inclusive, and resilient places in South Jersey.
Municipalities will create proposals using arts, history, and/or culture to engage their communities in addressing a local challenge. Examples of local challenges might include bringing people downtown at night, calming traffic, adding vitality to vacant storefronts, transforming vacant spaces, bringing diverse groups together, and instilling pride to spur local investment.
Through competitive presentations to creative placemaking “sharks,” or experts, the audience will be able to learn best practices in the field of creative placemaking. The audience will include artists and cultural leaders as well as all who are invested in strengthening communities.
