A series of three polymer clay workshops led by Arlene Groch and Susan Gross, exhibiting artists in the Into the Forest exhibition.
This series of 3 classes start you on a lifetime of exploration and creativity using polymer clay, an amazingly versatile art medium. We’ll also use acrylic paints, alcohol inks, mica powders, silk screens, rubber texture sheets and more to help you learn many different ways to create your own jewelry, household decor and more.
Class One
We’ll cover all the basics about safety, what tools and clays you’ll be using and how to condition and cure the clay so that when properly cured (baked), it will be hard, light and durable. You’ll create a beautifully color-blended sheet of clay and then create a design on it using silk screens or mica powders. If time allows, you’ll create a pair of earrings from your sheets. If not, we’ll save the sheets to use in the next classes.
When you come for your class you’ll be able to see hundreds of wonderful flowers, leaves, grasses, insects and more, all made from polymer clay, as you visit the Into the Forest exhibition which is on view at the Arts Garage from now until early January 2, 2020.
