Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist dyeing technique using indigo to dye natural fiber fabrics. Experiment with different folding, bunching, and binding techniques to create beautiful blue fabric. We encourage attendees to bring existing natural material clothing and fabric to this workshop, to extend the life of your belongings. The Noyes is providing some all-natural fiber materials for participants to dye, as long as supplies last.

For participants bringing existing clothing or fabric to dye:

Shibori only responds to all natural fibers, so make sure that you are bringing 100% cotton, linen, silk, canvas, or wool fibers. Polyester or synthetic blend fabrics will not hold the dye or will cure to a green color

Price: $5 per person *This registration fee is put in place to guarantee attendance. The cost of the registration fee will be re-invested into the marketing of the 2023 New Jersey Arts Annual exhibition and its related programming.
