Week 4 - “Crash Course in Animation!” Camp • July 22 - 26 • Ages 10 to 15 • 5-day camp
That’s right, in five short days we will take our animators in training from your original concept drawing to a finished animated short film! Along the way, they will be introduced to a brief history of animation, replicate a Victorian toy that was one of the earliest attempts at animation, develop their character’s story and lay it out as a storyboard, develop character model sheets and a unique color palette, paint a cel and background honoring the Golden Age of animation, and finally animate their character using traditional animation techniques. On the last day, animators will curate a gallery exhibit of their work for their families! After touring the gallery, we’ll sit back and enjoy their short films.
This camp is designed for participants between the ages of 10 and 15. No exceptions.
Please note: Animators are expected to come to camp with an original character they want to further develop during the week. This includes a simple drawing and basic story idea.
