This month we will be experimenting with a clay paste resist method with indigo dye.
Bring your own (natural fiber) fabric or clothing or use a provided bandana for this activity! The finished product will be tone-on-tone blue, dyed with indigo. Cotton, linen, hemp, silk, and other 100% natural fiber fabrics will work best with this technique.
Please note: Participants will be able to apply the clay paste resist to fabric during the program with paintbrushes and stencils. The fabric will be dipped into indigo once the clay has dried, and participants can pick up their fabric after the program or at the next dye club meeting.
About the series:
Create colors with us! Join the Natural Dyes Club at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University! This club will meet monthly on Thursday evenings to experiment with a different natural dye process each month.
Noyes staff will provide information about each natural dye used, a tutorial for creating the dye bath, material list, and references to other artwork or fine craft featuring the dye used.
One bandanas will be available for each person.
Subsidized parking in the WAVE Garage is $4 cash. Free parking for Stockton University students, staff, and faculty.
