Book Release Party: “Braids” by Carla Cornick

  • Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton Universit 2200 Fairmount Avenue Atlantic City, NJ, 08401 United States (map)

Join us for an exciting book release party for exhibiting artist Carla Cornick. Her book, Braids, is a sweeping literary novel told through nine self-contained stories and poems, woven together across continents and centuries. Though the characters never meet, their lives echo one another-each chapter a strand in a greater whole. From ancient Egypt to modern-day New Jersey, Braids is a meditation on love, loss, and the invisible thread that binds us through time. Limited copies will be available at the event. Pre-order the book at carlacornick.com/braids

"When I began writing Braids," Cornick explains, "I thought I was simply creating a story. But the deeper I went, the more I realized. I was tracing threads — threads that belonged, not just to my characters, but to my own life, my ancestors, and the shared human story we all carry."

Cornick, whose work is currently on display at AAHMSNJ Atlantic City, is a South Jersey artist recognized for her work in textiles, watercolors, mixed media, and art quilts, with exhibitions throughout the region and representation by The Hunter Gallery in Merchantville, NJ.

She is also the founder of Be Your Own SHERO, a platform dedicated to autonomy, authenticity, and empowered women entrepreneurship. Her creative voice, honed through years of artistic and community work, brings both intimacy and resonance to the page.

Cornick’s exhibit, “Finding Myself In the Abstract,” is on display until August 31st at AAHMSNJ in the Stockton University Noyes Arts Garage (2200 Fairmount Avenue, Atlantic City).
