Memory Collage Art Workshop

  • Kramer Hall Stockton University 30 Front Street Hammonton, NJ, 08037 United States (map)

Memory is critical to all aspects of life. We are who we are because of what we learn and remember. Without memory, we could not walk, speak, read, or write. We would have difficulty imagining the future. Memory provides the foundation for our understanding of the world and for our sense of personal identity. In an attempt to understand the numerous thought-provoking theories and processes, Artist Diane Pepe creates sculptures, collages, reliefs, and large-scale installation works. She will begin the day's events with a glimpse into her research of the processes of human memory as an inspiration for these works.

Following the introduction, participants will enjoy an exciting hands-on Memory Collage Art Workshop. They will first experience a written memory exercise that will enhance recall capabilities and strengthen the ability to remember life's significant events and moments. Participants will then delve into creating a colorful collage, expressing this memory, using a variety of decorative papers. Information regarding scientific theories and processes of human memory will be available for participants to review. Participants are welcome to bring in decorative or personal papers they might want to include in their collage, although we will have ample decorative papers to work with.

We look forward to this exciting and enriching workshop!
