Artist Statement
Seet van Hout is a resident of the Netherlands. The works van Hout selected for this exhibition are photos of four digital printed textile works, titled “Art of Memory,” made in Xi’An , China in 2004. Throughout the course of twenty years, van Hout has created many installations about her fascination for memory, the abilities and decay of this most important human skill. Her work constantly revolves around all possible aspects of memory – whatever form it is portrayed in: textile works, ceramics, paintings, drawings and artist’s books. In each of these different media, memory is repeatedly presented as a work in progress.
