"Two Cups of Tea" Herbal Workshop

In this workshop run by Leah Martin, herbalist at Reed’s Farm, attendees will learn about the formulation and science of blending a balanced tea to soothe nervous systems.

Understanding how to effectively employ the support of herbs and plant allies in times of distress and unrest is a vital act of care and nourishment, for ourselves and our community.

Participants will make and take home two tea blends during this workshop, each crafted with locally grown organic herbs, one for themselves and one to distribute to someone else! This could be a friend or loved one, a community organizer, a neighbor, a comrade, anyone whose nerves could use some soothing. The instructor will provide suggested tea formulas but participants are welcomed to make adaptations with the herbs available to suit their own preferences!

Workshop agenda:

  • Develop a basic understanding of the nervine class of herbs and how they can be effective allies, provide essential nourishment and help to manage stress

  • Explore the sensory experience of the herbs provided: aromatics, texture, color, etc.

  • Outline the structure for formulating a balanced nervine tea blend, discuss different combinations

  • Together in groups we will make our tea blends in bowls and package them in bags

  • Each participant will bag 2 loose leaf tea bags (½ oz bags) and will create their handwritten label

  • Throughout the workshop there will be time for questions and discussion surrounding herbs, justice, taking care of ourselves and each other

The cost to participate in this workshop is $25/person. The proceeds of the workshop will go to El Pueblo Unido of Atlantic City. Subsidized parking vouchers for the WAVE Garage can be purchased for $4 (cash only) in the Noyes gift shop.
